Avita Drugs is hiring a full-time Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician to join our professional team at our Baton Rouge location. The successful candidate will provide expert services to chronically ill patients, their providers, caseworkers and our pharmacists in a professional environment, in a manner that maximizes customer service, quality and accuracy.
The essential functions of a Pharmacy Technician in Prior Authorization include providing expertise and customer service support to clients, pharmacists and providers. The Prior Authorization Technician facilitates the PA process by coordinating with prescribers/nurses/ caseworkers/social workers to ensure the required prior authorization form is completed and submitted back to the prescriber for signature. The incumbent will verify that authorization has been received from the third party payor before the prescriptions are! filled by the pharmacy. The Prior Authorization Pharmacy Tech! nician supports providers and patients throughout the Prior Authorization process. The incumbent must be skilled at accurately and timely data entry of required information on the respective PA form.
This position is primarily responsible for receiving prescriptions, addressing and rectifying rejected claims and conducting and completing necessary third party prior authorization requests.
Pharmacy Technician
Organization, integrity, and attention to detail
Obtains required information for submittal on respective prior authorization form
Accurately populating required information on prior authorization forms for providers
Monitors prescriber submission of the PA form and patient eligibility
Dependability and flexibility in schedule
Quick learner and can work autonomously in a fast paced, specialized pharmacy
Technician Certification in good standing
Skilled at troubleshooting issues with patient benefits and rejected claims
Skills / Qualifications:
Louisiana and PTCB Certification Required
Specialized Pharmacy experience with processing and complicated billing is preferred
Must be organized and show Attention to Detail
Dependability and some Flexibility in Schedule are expected
Should be a Quick Learner able to work and multi- task Autonomously in a professional Specialized Pharmacy Environment
