Position Summary;
The Infusion Pharmacist coordinates and assists in the provision of infusion pharmacy services which includes, compounding, quality assurance,! dispensing, and clinical monitoring activities. The Infusion Pharmacist is responsible for the continuation of pharmacy managementâs goals and objectives within the dispensing pharmacy. Management skills and accuracy are required to ensure that the appropriate drug product reaches the right customer efficiently and safely.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Receive, review, verify, and process prescriptions for IV medications.
EvaAssists the physician and nursing staff in setting therapeutic objectives for drug therapy and establishing parameters for monitoring safety and efficacy of drug therapy.
Supervise, coordinate, and/or participate in the preparation of sterile admixtures.
Assists in the documentation and reporting of QA/CQI program monitoring on a daily, monthly, or quarterly basis in accordance with JCAHO standards (as applicable).
Coordinates the delivery of infusion products with other health care providers.
Monitor preparation and! delivery of IV emergency kits.
Ensure that all dispensed ! medications and supplies contain properly labeled administration instructions.
Oversees scheduling of IV patients, priority and work flow. Ensures a septic technique.
Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all local, state and federal rules and regulations regarding the practice of pharmacy. Assist in ensuring that the pharmacy is in compliance with all DEA policies and procedures as set forth by NeighborCare and regulatory agency. Ensure that the pharmacy is in compliance with all third party payor contract rules and regulations by which the pharmacy is bound.
Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.
Current license to practice pharmacy in good standing.
Knowledgeable about long term care regulations (OBRA, OSHA, state laws and other federal laws) that have an impa! ct upon both pharmacy and Center operations preferred.
Proficient in the area of clinical interpretation; drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-food interactions and allergies.
Knowledgeable about correct hazardous chemical handling and waste disposal procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to react quickly and calmly in emergencies.
Perform accurately and efficiently when dispensing prescription medications.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
