To assist the pharmacist in dispensing medications to all patients served within the St. Bernard Parish Hospital system; in ac! cordance with the legal, ethical and professional standards for pharmacy practice. Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Director, the technician performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and intravenous admixture program. The responsibilities include maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, preparing intravenous medication, filling automated medication dispensing system with a supply of unit dose medications, procuring &filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies and deliver supplies to nursing units.
Qualifications
A High School diploma or equivalent of four years of high school is required. Previous hospital experience is preferred. Current Louisiana Pharmacy certification required to practice as a pharmacy technician in the State of Louisiana. Working knowledge of information systems (IS) and standard office equipment/software! is required. Strong professional, organizational, and interpe! rsonal skills are required for effective patient care and working with all levels of the Organization including physicians and co-workers, as well as patients and their families.
