GENERAL SUMMARY:
Ensures appropriate medication therapy for patients in a multidisciplinary patient centered! environment.
Prepares and dispenses medications, including chemotherapy, to patients in the Chemotherapy Infusion center according to regulations and Institutional guidelines. Provides drug information, patient education, and clinical pharmacy services. Oversees the day to day activities of technical staff preparing medications and other duties in the Chemotherapy infusion center.
Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner's Expectations as duties are performed on a daily basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A. Education, Experience, and Training:
1 Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or poctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
B. Other Qualifications:
1. Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Louisiana, or eligible for licensure by examination or reciprocity from another state. Must obtain a Louisiana Pharmacist license.
2. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with all mem! bers of the health care team.
3. Willingness to work with ! chemotherapy.
C. Physical Demands:
1. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
2. Ability to operate automated compounding equipment, automated dispensing cabinets, and computer equipment.
3. Must possess the fine motor skills necessary to prepare sterile products, including chemotherapy, while wearing personal protective equipment.
4. Ability to move about campus for extensive periods of time up to 16 hours per day.
