Ensures staff compliance with all corporate initiatives, standard company policies and procedures (P&P) as well as with state and federal regulations and standards of accrediting body.
Obtains, interprets and evaluates all physician medication orders for therapeutic appropriateness, cost effectiveness, accuracy, safety and completeness.
Performs accurate computer order-entry, labeling and dispensing in accordance with Coram P&P and state board of pharmacy regulations.
Accurately compounds and checks compoun! ded sterile products according to Coram P&P.
Manages ! the implementation of new clinical programs and or marketing activities to physicians, nursing agencies and referral sources.
Verifies accuracy of dispensing, medical and laboratory data, progress notes and other required monitoring log data, including all quality assurance documentation.
Coordinates and directs the activities of pharmacy in accordance with Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Serve as point of contact for all pharmacy based billing and reimbursement questions.
Develop and recommend changes in branch processes to ensure efficient workflow to allow for the effective medication and supply delivery
Initiates, reviews and updates all required documentation per Coram P&P.
Accurately maintains all legally required records.
Serves as Pharmacist in Charge unless otherwise approved by National Director of Pharmacy
Communicates clinical and technical information and monitoring to other members of healt! hcare team and patient when appropriate.
Determines patient acceptance, product selection, device selection and supply management.
Resolves all customer complaints related to the provision of pharmaceutical care.
Maintains procedures for appropriate security of all legend items, including controlled substances
Directly supervises all pharmacy personnel in their duties and responsibilities.
Ensures the timely and accurate completion of tasks
Oversees the scheduling of pharmacy staff, on call staff and completion of pharmacy staffing model.
Oversees payroll for pharmacy staff.
Participates in and coordinates on-call responsibilities as needed.
Coordinates performance improvement activities, educational programs and departmental/branch meetings.
Provides training, guidance, clinical and corporate updates and coaching to pharmacy employees.
Coordinates the branch assessment proces! s as related to the pharmacy department.
Communicates appropri! ately with all members of the branch and healthcare team.
Monitors and manages the profit and loss statement for infusion site.
Oversees purchasing, inventory and patient care operations to ensure quality patient care while maintaining a balance with cost-effectiveness, stock availability and low holding costs.
Follows established procedures for drug and supply procurement.
Maintains or supervises the maintenance of appropriate inventory levels and ensures use of preferred products per Coram formulary.
Optimizes resource allocation to achieve maximum productivity of workforce while meeting the business needs of pharmacies in the region.
Works with sales force to visit customers and focus efforts on key infusion business lines to drive profitability.
Works with branch infusion sales staff and corporate contract services to ensure local contract terms capture highest value to Apria.
Assists in introducing! new infusion products/services to prospective physician and managed care customers.
Assists in developing, interpreting and implementing new policies and best practices.
Coordinates the implementation of infusion programs.
Monitors branch performance through routine surveys, audits and site visits.
Ensures project deadlines and performance standards are established and met.
Responsible for hiring, coaching, conducting performance appraisals, promotion, merit increases and employee discipline.
Assists in and oversees the training and orientation of new employees.
Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor.
Qualifications
Bachelors or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university
Eight years IV alternate site experience or management experience is preferred
Ability to read, analyze, interpret general business periodicals, profession! al journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
! Ability to write and present information to managers, patients, nurses and physicians.
Computer skills (Coram pharmacy system, word processing, database, spreadsheet programs)
Current license to practice pharmacy in state of employment.
Current CPR certification if involved with direct patient contact.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit, as well as talk and hear.
Requires the regular use of hands and fingers to mix medications, operate vehicles and operate equipment.
Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, night vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
The employee occasion! ally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
Employee is exposed to outside weather conditions when travel.
